Planting an Apple Tree: A Spell of Growth and Becoming

There’s something deeply magickal about coaxing life from what was once discarded.

After you’ve savoured an apple, before your discard the core gather the seeds together - tiny vessels of potential. Wrap them gently in a damp cloth or paper towel, seal them in a zip-lock bag and place them in the fridge. This mimics the crisp hush of winter, whispering to the seeds that it’s time to awaken.

After a few weeks, check in. You may find delicate sprouts reaching out - life stirring in the dark. Pot them in rich, nourishing soil and begin the slow, sacred process of growing your own apple tree.

As spring unfurls her green fingers, this is a potent time to plant not only seeds, but intentions.

Let the magick of apple guide your journey.
The Magick of Apple

Few fruits carry the layered enchantment of the apple. Known in folklore as the fruit of the gods, fruit of the underworld, and tree of love, she is steeped in myth and mystery. Aligned with the element of water, apple flows with energies of love, healing, garden magick, and the whisper of immortality.

To cut an apple crosswise reveals a hidden pentagram - five seeds nestled in sacred geometry. This simple act becomes a spell in itself, a reminder of nature’s quiet wisdom. Place a halved apple upon your Samhain altar as a symbol of mortality and transformation, bridging the veil between worlds.

Magickal Uses

  • Love Spells: Apple blossoms are delicate allies in matters of the heart. Use them in charm bags, bath rituals, or sprinkle them over love-dedicated candles.
  • Bonding Rituals: Share a halved apple with a loved one to deepen connection and invite sweetness into your relationship.
  • Healing Work: For folk healing, slice an apple into pieces, gently rub them over the affected area, then bury the fruit in the earth - returning the pain to the soil for transmutation.
  • Ancestor Offerings: Pour libations at the base of an apple tree to honour your lineage. The tree becomes a living altar, its roots drinking in your remembrance.
  • Wand Crafting: Apple wood is prized for wand-making, especially for those working with love, intuition, or ancestral magick. Its energy is gentle yet potent, ideal for heart-led practitioners.

A Living Spell

To grow an apple tree is to cultivate a relationship with a sacred being. She teaches patience, nurtures abundance, and offers her gifts across seasons. Whether you’re planting seeds or placing fruit on your altar, apple invites you to walk a magickal path - where love, healing, and remembrance bloom.

This spring, let your garden become your altar. Let your apple tree be a living prayer.
